Winkhaus manufactures door and window hardware, not the door itself.
Replacement seals are normally supplied by the original door manufacturer or installer.
I need additional keys for my Winkhaus lock. Where can I get them?

If your lock is part of a master key or protected key system, you will need your security card or original key information before replacements can be ordered.
My lock stopped working and I paid for a locksmith replacement. Can I claim reimbursement from Winkhaus?
No. Winkhaus does not reimburse locksmith costs or replacement charges arranged independently.

No. Winkhaus warranties apply to the direct purchaser of the product and not directly to homeowners or end users.
FAQs: Door - troubleshooting
What causes most door and lock issues?
The majority of issues are caused by door alignment rather than lock failure. The most common causes reported across the industry are:
• Door misalignment
• Failed gearbox
• Handle droop
• Hooks or rollers not engaging
• Stiff or difficult key operation
Regular maintenance and adjustment can help prevent many of these issues.
Why is my door difficult to lock?
This is usually caused by the door becoming slightly misaligned with the frame over time.
In many cases the hinges or locking keeps simply need adjusting to bring the door back into alignment.
Why does my handle feel loose or droop down?
A loose or drooping handle is commonly caused by worn springs, the spindle, or the internal gearbox mechanism.
The handle or lock mechanism may need replacing.
Why is my key difficult to turn?
This is often caused by pressure being placed on the locking hooks or bolts due to door misalignment.
Re-aligning the door and lubricating the lock can usually resolve the issue.
Why has my lock jammed or seized?
A jammed lock is typically caused by a failed internal gearbox.
In most cases the lock will need replacing.
Why won’t my multipoint lock engage properly?
This is commonly caused by the door dropping slightly or the locking keeps moving out of position.
Adjusting the hinges or frame keeps will normally resolve this.
Why does my lock work when the door is open, but not when it is closed?
This usually indicates misalignment between the lock and frame keeps.
The door, keeps, or hinges may require adjustment.
Why does my handle lift but the locking points do not engage?
This is often a sign of an internal gearbox failure inside the lock mechanism.
The lock may need replacing.
Why do I need to lift the door slightly to lock it?
Over time, doors can naturally drop slightly due to regular use.
A hinge adjustment or toe-and-heel adjustment may be required to restore alignment.
Why do the locking points feel stiff or drag?
Dirt build-up or worn rollers and hooks can cause stiffness. Cleaning and lubricating the lock with a PTFE silicone spray is recommended.
Worn components may also need replacing.
Why is my lock making clicking or grinding noises?
Internal wear within the lock mechanism can cause unusual noises. This is normally an indication that the lock should be replaced.
Why won’t my door open after unlocking?
This can be caused by a broken or worn internal mechanism within the lock.
Replacement of the lock is usually required.
Why won’t my key come out of the lock?
This can happen if the lock has not fully engaged or the cylinder has become dry over time.
Re-adjusting the door or lubricating the cylinder may resolve the issue.
Why does my lock feel stiff in cold weather?
Changes in temperature can cause doors and frames to expand or contract slightly.
A seasonal hinge adjustment may be required.
Why does my door catch at the top or bottom?
This is usually caused by the door dropping slightly or by installation alignment issues.
Hinge or frame adjustments are often required.
