Winkhaus strengthens double door locking portfolio for wider application flexibility
Double doors continue to grow in popularity across residential and light commercial applications, from traditional French doors through to larger, feature entranceways.
For fabricators and installers, however, these configurations can introduce additional complexity around specification, fabrication, and compliance.
The Winkhaus double door locking portfolio to address these challenges, bringing together a range of solutions designed to support multiple materials, door formats, and security requirements.
The range has been developed to give customers greater flexibility when specifying double doors, while maintaining consistent performance across security, usability, and fabrication efficiency.
Whether the requirement is for standard French doors, oversized entrance configurations, or PAS 24 compliant systems, the Winkhaus portfolio provides a structured approach to double door specification, helping to reduce complexity at both manufacturing and installation stages.
Solutions within the range include FGTI for dummy mullion applications, offering a robust locking arrangement using the Winkhaus Cobra system with high tensile steel hooks, latch, and deadbolt. With 25mm hook engagement and shootbolts on both primary and secondary doors, the system is designed to support door stability alongside enhanced security performance.
For larger door formats, FGTE extends application capability, accommodating door rebate sizes from 1914mm to over three metres in height. Suitable for timber, composite, and aluminium doors, it is compatible with Thunderbolt and Cobra locking systems and can be specified for both inward and outward opening configurations. The system has been engineered to meet PAS 24 and Secured by Design requirements, supporting compliant specification across a wider range of projects.
For aluminium systems, UGTE provides a dedicated solution using a U-rail format, combining the core performance of Winkhaus locking systems with the aesthetic requirement for handles on both sides of the door. Compatibility with Thunderbolt, Cobra and Trulock systems allows fabricators to maintain consistency across their aluminium door offering.
The FAB lock completes the range as a secondary door solution, removing the need for additional handles while maintaining high security performance. Featuring a flush two way paddle operating heavy duty shootbolts into the head and cill, it provides a clean, integrated appearance suited to French doors and entrance doors with side panels.
Justin Harris, Managing Director at Winkhaus UK, said:
“Double doors are an important part of many fabricators’ product portfolios, but they can introduce additional challenges in terms of size, security, and compliance. Our aim with this expanded range is to give customers a clearer route to specification, with solutions that are engineered to perform across a wide variety of applications while remaining practical to manufacture and install.”
Across the range, the focus remains on simplifying specification while maintaining the exacting standards of security and performance expected in today’s market.
